The project addresses some of the urgent needs affecting Rwanda, taking into account that good quality higher education institutions train good professionals and make a decisive contribution to the development of the education system as a whole. The project aims to improve the quality and internationalization of higher education programs and the level of qualification of teachers and students in some leading Rwandan Higher Education Institutions. In order to train future highly qualified teachers, professionals and experts, two major disciplines, considered strategic for sustainable growth, are selected: (1) Food Science and Technology and (2) Environmental Protection, Safety and Management. The general objectives are therefore to improve the qualification of teachers, especially future university professors in key scientific disciplines, and to increase the number and skills of graduate students, employers and technicians in economic areas where the demand for manpower is expected to grow in the coming years, among others: the food sector, land management and environmental protection.
